In appreciation of some laudable contributions towards the development of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government by some corporate organizations within the Council Area, the Local Government of distinction under the leadership of Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa FCPA recently held its maiden Corporate Appreciation and Recognition awards themed “Advancing the Local Government Through Public-Private Partnership” at His Grace Event Center Ota.
The Council Boss in his keynote address at the event stated that the event was designed to appreciate and celebrate some notable organizations within the council area that have added value to the development of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government through the fulfillment of their corporate social responsibilities to their host communities and to challenge other organizations to join the train of developing the Council area. In his words, “I am particularly impressed with responsive and positive dispositions of some of the industries who responded positively to our clarion call towards the development of our Local Government Area in the areas of road construction and rehabilitation, provision of social amenities and also human capital development”.
The council boss highlighted some notable contributions of various Corporate Organizations towards the development of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government:
*Exceptional role of Shell Nigeria Gas in the construction of the Oju-ore-Ilogbo road.
*Resurfacing and maintenance of Obasanjo Farms Road, Ota by Tempo Paper Pulp and Packaging Limited.
*Rehabilitation of Onimalu-Onipanu road by Nigeria Bottling Company (Coca-Cola)
*Access road from Ilogbo road via Jendol to Idiroko expressway which was undertaken by CWAY Foods and Beverages.
*Commended Fidson Healthcare PLC, Veepee, and other companies along Veepee Animashaun Road for the construction of drainages along the two sides of Veepee- Animashaun Road.
*Human capital development through various skills acquisition programs and awards of scholarships to numerous indigent students by Covenant University (CU), Ambassadors Group of Schools, Ace Medicare Clinic, Lion’s International, Rotary Club, and West Africa Gas Pipeline.
*Boosting of Internally Generated Revenue of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government by Unilever and Viju Industries Nigeria Limited.
*De-flooding of Afobaje Community through the provision of long-range drainage to Koro Otun by DUFIL PRIMA FOODS. (Indomie)
Unrelenting effort by ensuring that Ado- Odo Ota Local Government roads at Federal, State, and Local remain motorable all seasons by the Livings Faith (Winners Chapel).
Furthermore, Engr. Sheriff Musa appreciated other Corporate Organizations for their contributions towards the development of the Council Area and strongly appealed to Industries that are yet to join the train of providing developmental projects to their host communities to impact the lives of the people.
The highlight of the event, was when the Executive Chairman Engr, Sheriff Adewale Musa led other dignitaries in the presentation of appreciation and recognition awards to deserving Corporate Organizations in the Ado Odo Ota Local Government area.

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has apprehended two suspects, Abdullahi Idowu and Samson Ojo, for theft in the Idiroko border area, demonstrating the Corps’ commitment to ensuring that no crime goes unpunished, regardless of its magnitude.
In a statement issued by the State Commander, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, it was disclosed that the suspects—Abdullahi Idowu, 18, a resident of Babaloke area, Idiroko, and Samson Ojo, 17, residing at Etikoto, Ikolaje area, Idiroko—were apprehended around 10:30 p.m. on November 17, 2024. Both locations fall under Ipokia Local Government Area.
The suspects were caught during a joint routine patrol by the Special Squad and the Idiroko Divisional Team of the Corps, led by Chief Superintendent Abdulkareem Abdulrazaq. Upon their arrest, they were found with two bags containing a stolen generator engine parts.
Commander Ganzallo revealed that a preliminary investigation uncovered that Abdullahi Idowu is an ex-convict who previously served a jail term in the Benin Republic. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing the generator engine parts from the Idiroko border area and admitted to stealing a large battery the previous Friday, which he sold to a scrap dealer.
The suspects were taken to the scene of the theft in Idiroko, where it was confirmed that the stolen generator parts belonged to a customs office. Additional parts of the generator were discovered in a nearby bush.
Ganzallo further stated that the suspects, along with the recovered items, have been transferred to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Area 1 Command, Idiroko, for further investigation.
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has alerted that female sanitary pads not properly disposed in Ogun state are being abused as drug by some youths in the state. According to the agency, some youths are now picking used sanitary pads not properly disposed, from dust bins and neighborhood across the state. The state NDLEA deputy commandant, Mrs Eucheria Ekwu made this known to newsmen on the sideline of a youth orientation programme for secondary schools students in Abeokuta. She said the youths involved in the act, after collecting the sanitary pads not properly disposed, inhale in order for them to be high as if they are on drugs. The NDLEA commandant, who was worried over the spread of the abuse, advised girls and women in the state to always burn their sanitary pad after usage. She also expressed concern over youth as young as nine year old using psychotropic drugs such as loud, sk and Colorado.
Some suspected cultists have allegedly murdered a former councillor in Abeokuta North Local Government area of Ogun State, Mutiu Akinbami.
It was gathered that the councillor was gruesomely murdered at Olomore area of Abeokuta on Friday’s evening by a rival cult group suspected to be Aiye Confraternity.
Acctording to eyewitnesses, he was killed in the presence of his son while on transit.
It was learnt that his body has been evacuated by the police operatives in the state.
