Ogun Police Launches Manhunt for APC Councillor Killers

Police say they have launched a manhunt for the killers of an APC councillorship candidate, in the Ogun state November 16 local government poll.
The candidate, Adeyemi Adeleke was shot dead on Saturday afternoon at Jide Jones axis of Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta, the state capital.
His assassins shot him at a close range and smashed his head to ensure he was dead before fleeing the scene.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odutola said policemen have been deployed to track down the assasins.
Odutola in a telephone conversation said the killers are suspected cultists and were armed with a pump action rifle and a pistol in an unmarked Toyota corrola sport car.
She said police immediately visited the scene after the incident, took photographs, while the family of the late candidate requested to take his body away without a post mortem examination.
The police image maker said police investigations of the incident was underway to arrest the fleeing killers of the candidate.

Ogun Amotekun to Recruits 700 personnel

Ogun state Amotekun corps is recruiting additional 700 personnel to boost its strength to fight criminals across the state.
The fresh recruitment started October 29 and is ending November 18.
The new Amotekun corps commander, retired brigadier general Alade Adedigba said the recruitment of additional personnel was approved by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The commander in a statement said application for the job is free through the corps’ website on ogunstateamotekun.com.ng.
General Adedigba also said that applicants could visit the agency’s office directly.
He said screening of applicants will take place between November 25 and December 11.
The new commander has said the corps intends to focus on the state’s border communities to cope with influx of criminals into the state.

Ogun Govt Advices Residents to Relocate or Elevate from Flooded Areas

Ogun State Government has advised residents of flooded areas of Isheri, Riverview Estate,Oshorun Estate,OPIC Estate, Arepo,Mawere,Akute, Alagbole,Orimerunmu and Magboro who are currently affected by the recent release of water from Oyan Dam to abide by its earlier flood alert advisory to either relocate or elevate from the areas at this period of the year.
The Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya stated this in response to the flooding situation in the areas which was necessitated by their lowland nature and higher level of tidal fluctuation from river flooding at this time which forced the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority,ORBDA to release excessive water from the Oyan Dam.
While noting that the release of excess water from the Dam is unavoidable to avert its damage which might lead to unpalatable consequences, Oresanya assured residents of the areas that the flood water would start receding significantly from Friday 25 October through waterways,water courses and canal dredged and provided for that purpose earlier by the Dapo Abiodun lead administration at ameliorating the problem adding that Ogun State government is working assiduously with its Lagos counterpart and the Federal Government to finding lasting solutions to the perennial flooding problems in the areas.

Ogun Amotekun Proposes Establishment of Security Marshall

Ogun State Amotekun Corps has proposed the Establishment Of Security Marshall to assist its operations in securing the state’s border communities against criminal elements

The proposed security Marshals would consists of trained volunteers, mostly recruited from the local communities.

The new Commander for the State Amotekun Corps, Retired Brigadier General Alade Adedigba, made this known during his meeting with major Stakeholders at the Palace Of Ologere Of Ogere, Oba James Salihu

He explained that the proposed Security Marshals would work with Amotekun Corps And other Security Agencies to monitor and secure The State’s Border Communities

The Amotekun Commander Said They Would Also Empower Local Communites To Have A Better Understanding Opf Their Environment

He Said The Proposal Would Also Facilitate A More Integrated Approach To Securing The State,As The Security Marshalls Would Gather Intelligence To Further Equip The Corps To Respnd Swiftly To Security Threats

The Amotekun Commander Said The  State Government Was Ready To Recruit More Personnel, Procure More Patrol Vehicles And Communication Gadgets To Improve The Operations Of The Security Outfit

He Also Said That The Security Outfit Would Boost Its Operation At Ogere Axis Of The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway To Check The Rising Cases Of Kidnapping Aand Armed Robberies In The Axis.
