Politics, at its core, is the art of influence, decision-making, and power dynamics, with every individual, whether consciously or unconsciously, playing a role in shaping the socio-political landscape—from the home to the community, and ultimately, to the broader state and national stage, writes Lukman Omikunle.

In the context of Ado-Odo/Ota, the industrial heart of Ogun State, several political figures have left indelible marks on the Council’s political terrain since the establishment of the local government in 1987. Ogun state People Democratic Party, PDP caretaker committee is holding meeting with top members in the state, to reconcile those aggrieved ahead of the state congress.
The fresh leadership crisis had divided members of the immediate past state executive committee behind the party’s 2023 poll governorship candidate, Honorable Ladi Adebutu and the party’s chairman, Doctor Sikrulahi Ogundele.
On Saturday, the party’s deputy governorship candidate in 2023 poll, Prince Adekunle Akinlade had asked major stakeholders not to allow Adebutu to realize his alleged 2027 governorship ambition.
The deputy governorship candidate also said the loss of the PDP in the 2023 governorship poll, was a divine intervention to save people of the state from Adebutu governorship.
Akinlade’s attack has raised a fresh anxiety among PDP leaders and supporters in the state, as the caretaker committee set up by the national working committee had been holding reconciliation meetings in the past days with aggrieved leaders in the state.
Ogundele in a media on Sunday blamed Adebutu over attack by Akinlade, for throwing stones while living in a glass house.
According to Ogundele, there are lots of issues on Adebutu, who he expected to understand the principles of politics.
He was optimistic that the issue was not yet a crisis, but a misunderstanding which would be resolved.
But a member of the caretaker committee, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, told newsmen on Sunday that the committee had been meeting with aggrieved leaders to reconcile them ahead of the state congress.
According to him, PDP leaders who had appeared before the committee included Adebutu, Akinlade as well as, Otunba Jimi Lawal, while Otunba Segun Sowunmi was being expected.
Sodipo, who also is a member of the state PDP elders committee and former state PDP secretary, is optimistic that all those aggrieved would be reconciled before the state congress.
